Rubber Technologist
A vacancy has arisen for a highly experienced Rubber Technologist to join our Industrial Support Unit. The Unit provides technical assistance to the Malaysian Rubber Industry and the core activities involve offering assistance in product support, industrial troubleshooting and the transfer of technology to rubber product manufacturers. The suitable candidate will be qualified to degree level in a relevant discipline and have held a technical position in a rubber manufacturing environment. In addition you will possess a good working knowledge of lean manufacturing practices and SPC. Knowledge of formulation development and design aspects of rubber products would be an added advantage.

The main function of this post is a hands-on advisory role to the industry, for which overseas travel is required. In addition you will assist in the development of staff and contribute to the ongoing and future research programmes at TARRC.

The Research Centre is sited in a country estate just outside Hertford. Salary is according to qualifications and relevant experience, pension scheme, 23 days holiday, subsidised canteen and leisure facilities.

Research and Development Engineer
We require an engineer with a good degree, or relevant experience and training, to join a team carrying out development work on rubber engineering products and assist with research and consultancy work on the design principles of elastomeric engineering components.

Specific tasks will be:

  • to pursue development work on a rubber product.
  • to design, commission, and look after test rigs
  • to carry out endurance and characterisation tests on elastomeric components such as antiseismic devices.
  • technical promotion of the work
The Research Centre, established in 1938, has earned an international reputation for high quality research on rubber. It is sited in a country estate just outside Hertford.
