The poster summarised some of the research work David had undertaken at TARRC over the previous two years, which involved the use of organoclay nanoparticles as a reinforcing filler for natural rubber. The poster had been previously presented at the IOM Rubber in Engineering Group meeting "Elastomers in Engineering: Future Trends" on 23rd November 2006. Also, as winner of the Becker prize, David will have the opportunity to present his poster at ‘The Great British Research and R&D Show’ held in March at the House of Commons. (www.setforeurope.org). David explains “The initial reason for producing the poster was that it was a prerequisite for my PhD course. However, I wanted to impress the attendees at both the Poster Competition and the Rubber in Engineering group meeting so I spent considerable time getting it just right, with the help and advice of several TARRC colleagues. The hardest part was deciding what to leave out!”If you wish to know more about David Lowe's winning poster feel free to contact him at dlowe@tarrc.co.uk.
